Sportypal is really a top notch app.
My suggestion is an auto start feature. After you get a GPS lock, you would have a second option to auto start. This will start the timer/tracking ect when you have moved, say 20m or so? This gives you time to put a usually expensive device in its protective bag, and in a pocket or bag without rushing.
Just a thought :)
